The Freedom of Information Act was first signed into law by President Lyndon JohnsonLyndon Johnson in 1966 and it was amended again in 1996, 2002, 2007. This law allows for the full or partial disclosure of previously unreleased information and documents controlled by the United States Government, with renewed directive under President Obama.
