BLM Updates from Willis Lamm
Here are a few updates.
As most of you may be aware, BLM has a bunch of new stuff on its web site. One of these documents is a Strategy Development Document that includes a mechanism for public comment on specific elements of Secretary Salazar's Initiative.
There are some issues with this document including items such as your browser having to have certain advanced settings turned on for the
comments feature to work. I finally got my browser configured properly and found that the forms themselves were about as easy to navigate as a
do-it-yourself root canal.
I have addressed these issues and others in a document posted to the Wild Horse War Room. This document includes a link to BLM's "how to
configure your browser" information.

We understand there may be a more user friendly way to post comments and I'll add that information to the page as soon as a better process is
confirmed.
Regardless as to how you submit comments, it is probably very important that advocates do comment to support their position on the specific questions posed to the public by BLM. My recommendation is that no matter how frustrated you feel about the wild horse issue, our side will
be better served if we keep our comments civil, to the point and where applicable, based on facts. I would not be surprised if some folks in the other camp exploited abusive or off the wall comments from our side.
I also have identified some items that were troubling to me with the ECRS report, basically errors and omissions. I was informed that the
report is not going to be corrected, to which I have sent some appropriate reply correspondence (complaints) up the BLM chain. I have also composed a rebuttal in response to the items in the report that concerned me. There seems to be a presumption on the part of politicians and bureaucrats that these kinds of documents are
fundamentally accurate - at least when it serves their purposes. Accordingly I felt it necessary to attempt to get an alternative viewpoint on the record.
My rebuttal document can be found here.

For the record I am not suggesting that Mike Harty fudged anything when preparing his report. My main concern is that he isn't a horse guy, that as such he didn't understand some of the terms and context, and that his errors could be construed by some as facts.
We clearly need to be prepared for June 14th.
More to follow.
