Next Adoptions - August 24-25, 2012

Wyoming Department of Corrections

LOCATION: Wyoming Honor Farm, 40 Honor Farm Road, Riverton, Wyoming

The Wyoming Honor Farm is proud to present BLM Wild Horses available for adoption. We offer BLM Wild Horses through an on-site competitive bid adoption.  Each adopter can get an application form the morning of the adoption or get it on-line at the BLM web site http://www.blm.gov/wy/st/en/programs/Wild_Horses.html  You can also contact the BLM at 1-866 4 MUSTANGS for more information. Visit your local BLM office to pick up an application as well.
This is one of two adoptions that are held at the Wyoming Honor Farm each year.

Days of the Adoption

  • Friday, August 24, 2012  The Wyoming Honor Farm will host a free viewing/demonstration clinic to help participants learn about the gentling process and how to care for the horses.  The clinic runs from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and is open to the public.
  • Saturday, August 25, 2012  The gates will open at 7:30 a.m. for previewing the horses. Coffee and rolls will be available during the preview. BLM and WDOC representatives will be available to answer questions regarding the BLM and Wyoming Honor Farm Wild Horse Program. The competitive bidding starts at 10:30 a.m. and will continue until all animals offered have been shown. The remaining un-adopted horses from this adoption will continue to be trained, and will be offered again in future adoptions at the Honor Farm, with a few being added to the BLM national internet adoption events.
  • The adoption will offer a number of saddle trained horses and halter started horses.

  • All horses have been haltered, led, trailered and have had their feet handled; and have been through the "gentling program" which starts with halter training and then proceeds to saddle training.
