Horse Slaughter Legislation

Fund for Horses

FEDERAL LEGISLATION: US
With the introduction H.R. 2966, the companion bill to S. 1176, we have a PopVox page for both pieces of legislation.

You can endorse H.R. 2966 and S. 1176 and send your comments to Congress in one convenient place, plus see what others are saying who support the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act of 2011.

Our lobbyists report that we are not making our voices heard loudly enough in Congress.  Those campaigning to return horse slaughter to the U.S. are not letting up for a minute.  We gently urge you to please take a few minutes to support these bills, and pass this information along.

LOBBYING
We are still putting the EU under considerable pressure to ban N. American and Australian horse meat from entering the European market, because of numerous banned substances, not just the potentially deadly Bute which has been outlawed from ever entering the human food chain through any type of animal flesh.

We believe we are beginning to overcome their reluctance.  The only reason the EU still hesitates is there is still a high demand for horse meat in certain member countries, and they are strongly lobbying against what we are asking.  Please help keep us there, pounding at the door.

MEDIA CAMPAIGN
While a demand for horse meat exists, there is money to be made.  That is why we are pushing forward with a media campaign to make the idea of eating horse meat not only taboo but also highly unfashionable.  We are courting various European media personalities, including soccer players and singing stars, who have a huge influence and major appeal across a number of age groups.

HELP WITH A DONATION
If you have not made a donation, we encourage you to do so today.  Ending the appetite for horse meat will bring a real end to horse slaughter.  While laws are important and can have a major impact, unfortunately they can be overturned or fail to be enforced by officials.

Another way to help is by making a monthly contribution of $5 or more to ensure we have the funds to implement these innovative and strategic campaigns.  Sign up today, confident that you can cancel at any time.

If you wish to make a tax deductible donation, please visit this link.

Thank you so much.

All the very best,
