Happy New Year
Protests Take Place Nationwide- More Planned for coming week as Calico Roundup Continues

Dear Friends & Supporters,

This has been a year full of a lot of tragedy for a our wild horses and burros but also a lot of hope. Let's not tire in our work to protect our wild herds in the west as 2010 begins. Yesterday we were inspired by those who stood up for the wild horses and burros in Chicago, Colorado, Idaho and San Francisco, gaining international press coverage and a lot of awareness for what is going on right now in Calico.

We are helping to plan more protests in Denver , Los Angeles , Las Vegas , New York City, and London next week with repeat protests expected from yesterday's cities. Details on all these events will be on our events page soon. We've posted photos and links to the stories that came out on these protests at The Cloud Foundation blog, here. We will be posting more information on starting your own protest, rally or vigil for our wild horses. Even the little heros for our wild herds were out in force in San Francisco yesterday (kids too, pictured above!)

While the BLM, under the auspices of Secretary Salazar, is running away with our wild herds, please don't forget that we can stop this. These are our wild horses on our public lands! This is both an honor and a huge responsibility and until we get the train back on the tracks we will push on. About 40 years ago Wild Horse Annie said "I am fighting for their memory" and until we can institute a moratorium on these unnecessary and cruel roundups, we will continue to work.
Please support the Cloud Foundation as you can, with your action and support. As we wish you a new year I am standing on Sykes Ridge watching wild horses forage and lay in the sun, conserving as much energy as possible- the antithesis of what is going on in Nevada right now.
What an exciting and beautiful thing that we are fighting for! Don't give up and please feel supported as advocates from around the world are coming together to battle one rogue government  agency that happens to hold a real jewel in its hand, our wild horses and burros.

Thank you for your support.
Best wishes for the new year,
Ginger, Makendra & the entire Cloud Foundation Team of inspiring Volunteers

Please watch the new PSA with Sheryl Crow & Viggo Mortensen from Moving Cloud Productions, share it and then take action.
Call your Senators: 202-224-3121, again, and ask that they work with you to stop the Calico roundup and reform the BLM.

The photo above & the photo below were taken by a witness to the disastrous Dec. 2007 BLM Roundup of 1000+ mustangs from the Antelope & Antelope Valley herds in Nevada . We thank her for being there.
The same thing is happening today in Calico. More photos of this roundup & Calico coming soon

The Cloud Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit named in honor of Cloud, a wild horse stallion who has become an ambassador for a movement to save all our wild horses living in their wild homes with their families.
