A message from Joey [at Luv Shack] regarding the Arizona wildfires
We all have been worried about the horrible fires in the White Mountain area
of Arizona; we are concerned for the people and the many critters caught up
in the conflagration. Our thoughts go out to all involved and of course we
want to help as much as we can.
I just returned home from St. Johns where they had to move 80 horses, 9
Llamas, pigs, sheep, goats, dogs, cats & a few other critters to safety from
the fires. What an amazing crew! The volunteers and the few people I met
did not complain about the thick dense smoky air nor did they complain that
they had all spent HOURS helping these animals, walking, feeding, turning
them out, watering, etc. They only said "We couldn't just stand by and watch
these creatures burn because we didn't step up and do something!"
To help out, my husband (Greg) and I took up a truck load of stuff like
buckets, halters, hoses, muck rakes, paper towels, hand sanitizer and more
and I am going up again tomorrow (Tuesday) at 6am. Even though they have let
some of the people return to their homes, it still is not safe for the
animals to go back to inhale the smoke; some don't have a home to go to.
This is going to take some time maybe even a couple of months. So please
take a look at the wish list below and if you are able to help we are so
grateful!
· Meals & treats for volunteers
· Muck Rakes
· Feed buckets
· Water buckets
· Electrolytes
· French Green Clay (1 month old filly badly injured)
· Halters
· Lead ropes
· Muck trailer to pull behind golf cart
· Garbage bags
· Paper towels
· Gas cards
No matter what you do, big or small, it WILL make a difference and I’ll see
it will get to the right place!!! Please drop off donations either at my
place at 36029 N. 10th St. in Phoenix or Rockaway Hills Ranch in Cave Creek.
