Hungry Enough to Eat a Horse? Think again…

WAAY ABC 31

Huntsville, AL-

Lisa Norman rescued her mustang, Lover Boy, from going to slaughter just a few months ago. Norman has been advocating for horses for years and is an active member of the Equine Welfare Alliance, a group dedicated to ending the slaughter of American horses

In other countries, horse meat is a delicacy. Italians consume 16,000 tons of horse meat a year, even putting it in baby food.

But the EWA says that because American horses are not raised for slaughter, their meat is actually dangerous for human consumption.
