In Rare Move, Unwanted Horse Coalition Recruits Two Rescues

I don't know Colorado Horse Rescue, but Day's End has always been totally pro-slaughter.  The 'journalists' looking for a pro-slaughter rescue (like Jeffrey McMurray) always find their way to them

 

WASHINGTON, (UHC) – The Unwanted Horse Coalition (UHC) is pleased to welcome the Colorado Horse Rescue (CHR) and Days End Farm Horse Rescue (DEFHR) as members of the Coalition. With the number of unwanted horses still at a discouraging level, the UHC feels it is important to have the opinions and perspectives of these two facilities.

 The CHR is headed by Hildy Armour and the DEFHR is headed by Kathleen Schwartz Howe.

“Colorado Horse Rescue is honored to join forces with UHC’s national effort addressing the escalating issue of unwanted horses. Here at CHR we believe the silver lining to this crisis is the horse industry working hard seeking both short and long-term solutions for unwanted horses in the United States,” said Hildy Armour, president of CHR. Colorado Horse Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing emergency relief, shelter, care, rehabilitation and adoption services for abused, neglected, abandoned and unwanted horses.  CHR provides community resources through equine education, counseling, information and referral services. CHR is funded through private and individual donations, grants, bequests and corporate sponsorships.

Days End Farm Horse Rescue also joins the UHC as a new member and is a 501 (c)(3), non-profit, volunteer based, animal welfare organization located in Woodbine, Maryland. Since its inception, Days End Farm has gone from a small non-profit that sheltered only a few horses annually to a full scale well-respected national rescue and rehabilitation facility housing 50 to 70 horses at any given time with around 1,200 volunteers a year. “With twenty years of ‘boots on the ground’ experience with abused and neglected equines, I am looking forward to collaborating on solutions that ultimately create a better quality of life for our beloved horses,” said Kathleen Schwartz Howe, president of DEFHR.

 “With professional facilities such as Colorado Horse Rescue and Days End Farm Horse Rescue joining as members of the Coalition, the UHC looks forward to learning more about the rescue, rehabilitation, retirement and adoption community and how the horse community cam help even more horses,” said Ericka Caslin, director of the UHC.
