BLM Targets More Nevada Mustangs: Oppose Callaghan Roundup by October 10

September 30, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment
Please send SAMPLE LETTER BELOW by October 10 opposing yet another roundup of Nevada mustangs, this one targeting the wild horses living in the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM’s) Callaghan Complex and New Pass/Ravenswood Herd Management Area (HMA) in the north central part of the state.
The BLM only allows 894-1,161 horses to live in the four HMAs that comprise this 1,000-square-mile area of public lands. The agency proposes to remove 221 horses, bringing this herd down to just 862 horses – below the already low “Appropriate” Management Levels.
As in other areas, the BLM allows more livestock to graze than wild horses then blames the horses for damage to the range.
Please PERSONALIZE AND EMAIL THE SAMPLE LETTER BELOW by October 10. Share this alert with friends and family – we need more voices on behalf of our mustangs!
