In response to charges from Maureen VanDerStad of the nonprofit advocacy group, Grass Roots Horse, that a photo that depicted a wild horse foal who was captured during the ongoing Triple B Roundup in Nevada showed it tied by his neck to a holding corral, the BLM has released a hi-resolution photograph that it says proves the foal was never restrained in that manner. When horses are purchased at auction by buyers intending to kill them, they're hauled away in double- decker tractor trailers where they are beaten and often blinded with baseball bats to mollify them. After crossing the border into Mexico, the animals are stabbed on each side-an act to tenderize their meat-and immobilized.
