Oregon Wild Horse Areas Continue to Face Fire Dangers

The Long Draw Oregon fire burned over 85% of Jackies Butte Wild Horse Herd Management Area (HMA) and a rough estimate of the Coyote Lakes / Alvord Tulle HMA, (affecting mostly the Coyote Lakes portion) is that upwards of 60% has burned. The Long Draw fire has been contained. The Bureau Of Land Management (BLM) will do a fly over of all the burned areas to assess damage.
Leslie Peeples of Wild Horse Education contacted Oregon BLM after learning of the fire. I was told four horses in the Jackies Butte HMA were severely burned and blinded by the fire," said Peeples "BLM said all four were humanely euthanized."   Read MORE...
