The Oregon Humane Society is urgently seeking information on the whereabouts of six underweight horses sought in relation to a criminal animal neglect investigation.
The horses were unexpectedly moved on August 6 from a property on Gregory Road, Rainier. Neither the horses nor their owner can be located.
“We need to move quickly to protect the health of these horses,” the society’s executive director, Sharon Harmon, said.
“Their poor health, combined with the recent high temperatures, means that their lives are at risk.”
The owner of the horses, Yvonne Byrd-Lynch, was cited in May for animal neglect by the society’s humane officers regarding a horse that was found dead on the property. The society has law enforcement authority for animal welfare issues in Oregon.
The missing horses are two pinto foals, two bay mares, one white stallion and one buckskin mare.
Anyone who sees horses matching these descriptions are urged to immediately call the society on (503) 285-7722, ext. 214 or email invest@oregonhumane.org.
